Our sessions are led by Marisa and Felipe, who share their techniques and passion for art in an accessible and inspiring way.

Freestyle Ceramics

Join us to create your own ceramic pieces using the slab technique. Whether you're making a cup, a small sculpture, or a vase, this workshop lets you explore endless possibilities. Escape the city and enjoy a slower pace while you create. Plus, savor some snacks and drinks throughout the session to make the experience even more enjoyable!

Printing on Ceramic

Discover the perfect fusion of ceramics, drawing, and printing in this creative workshop! Learn how to design and craft your own ceramic pieces while incorporating drawing techniques and printing methods directly onto the clay. Whether you're new to ceramics or experienced, this workshop will guide you through the process of translating your ideas onto a ceramic canvas. It's an ideal way to slow down, relax, and let your creativity flow after a busy day in Porto.

Tile Painting

Create a small mural with 4 tiles in this workshop. Start with some inspiration and examples of amazing tiles around the city. Then, proceed to drawing and transferring your designs onto the tiles. Choose from three methods: drawing directly on the tile, sketching on transparent paper, or cutting shapes and painting over the tile.

Paint Your Ceramics

In this 2-hour session, you'll have the chance to personalize beautiful, handcrafted pieces by experienced artists, such as cups, vases, small plates, and bowls. Using ceramic pencils, slips, and glazes, you'll be able to turn each piece into your own unique creation.

Nerikomi

In this workshop, you'll focus on the ancient Japanese Nerikomi technique, where the emphasis is on creating intricate patterns by layering and coloring clay. After designing your patterns, you'll use the slab technique to transform them into unique ceramic pieces like cups, plates, or sculptures.

Note: Your pieces will need time to dry before firing, with the full process taking a few weeks. Shipping is available for an additional fee if needed.

Kitchen Printing - Tetrapack Edition

Join us for an exciting hands-on experience where you can delve into the art of printing using a pasta machine and recycled tetrapacks. In this workshop, you'll learn how to transform these everyday materials into beautiful prints using gravure paint and techniques. Perfect for all skill levels, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to explore your creativity, learn sustainable practices, and connect with fellow art enthusiasts.

Cyanotype Workshop

In these two hours, it's all about BLUE! Cyanotype is a technique that involves two chemicals that react to create a UV-sensitive solution. When exposed to sunlight, this liquid turns a beautiful blue. You can use it to print on paper, fabric, or even tote bags. Feel free to draw directly on the plastic sheet or arrange leaves, flowers, or any other objects you like!

About us

DoBarro is a ceramics studio and shop founded by Marisa Grilo, Felipe Rocio, and Samuel Sanção, artists and designers passionate about art, education, and sustainability.

Marisa Grilo

Marisa Grilo is a visual artist based in Porto. She holds a degree in Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and a master's degree in Sculpture. Her work focuses mainly on ceramics and printmaking, following a deeply intuitive approach that explores various methods and materials in an experimental manner.

Felipe Rocio

Felipe Rocio is a Brazilian artist living in Vila Nova de Gaia. He holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Institute of Arts of São Paulo State University (UNESP). After moving to Portugal, he completed a master's degree in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP). Felipe has a strong interest in working with children, using art as a means to explore creativity and memories, encouraging artistic expression and sustainability in a playful and accessible way.

Samuel Sanção

Samuel Sanção is a Brazilian designer and illustrator based in Vila Nova de Gaia. With a postgraduate degree in Illustration (FBAUP) and currently pursuing a master's in MIEI, he is dedicated to creating visual narratives in comics, illustrated books, and board games, as well as conducting illustration workshops.
